Three to twelve months
Short-term van leasing
Short-term van leasing is business contract hire on an agreement of 12 months or less. FleetMe supplies limited companies and LLPs on terms from 3 to 12 months at a fixed monthly rental, and sole traders on vehicle hire over the same terms. It suits work with an end date and businesses that do not want a three-year commitment.

Three, six or twelve months. Shorter costs more per month, because the cost of putting a vehicle on the road is spread across fewer payments, so the question is not which is cheapest, it is how long you actually need it for.

This is a lease, not a rental
The distinction matters because it changes what you get. A rental is daily or weekly, taken from whatever is on the forecourt, and priced accordingly. A lease is a specified vehicle on a fixed monthly rental with an agreed annual mileage, supplied new unless we agree otherwise in advance.
We do not run a rental desk. If you need a van for two weeks, hire one, it will be cheaper and quicker, and we would rather tell you that than write you an agreement that does not fit.

How to read these listings
Prices: Monthly rentals shown are guide prices and exclude VAT unless labelled otherwise. They are indicative “from” figures quoted against a 12-month term at the mileage allowance shown for the vehicle, and they move with the exact variant, the mileage, the initial rental and the outcome of underwriting. Last reviewed 1 September 2026. We confirm your actual monthly rental, and what it includes, in writing before anything is agreed.
Images: Vehicle images are computer-generated illustrations of a representative example, not photographs of the vehicle supplied. Exact trim, colour, body length, roof height and equipment vary by specification.
Availability: Listings show the vehicles we can supply, not stock held on site. Specific variants, trim levels, body conversions and delivery dates depend on factory lead times and availability at the time you order, and some vehicles are build-to-order. Nothing is reserved for your business until we confirm it in writing. If we cannot get the exact vehicle you have asked for, we will tell you and set out the closest alternative we can. Delivery is to business addresses in England and Wales, and we confirm the arrangements, the timing and any delivery cost on your quote.
Company cars are on the same terms, see the full stock list. Lutons, tippers, dropsides, crew cabs and pickups are sourced to order and quoted individually.
Questions
What counts as short-term van leasing?
An agreement of 12 months or less. FleetMe writes them from three months to twelve, on business contract hire at a fixed monthly rental with an agreed annual mileage. Traditional contract hire runs three to five years; this is the same product over a much shorter commitment.
Is short-term leasing the same as van rental?
No. A rental is daily or weekly, usually from a counter, priced per day and taken off the shelf. This is a lease: a fixed monthly rental, an agreed mileage, a specified vehicle, and an agreement with FleetMe. We do not do daily or weekly rental and there is no depot to visit. If you need a van for a fortnight, a rental desk is the right answer and we will say so.
Why would a business choose a shorter agreement?
Usually because the work has an end date, or because committing a growing business to the same vehicle until 2029 is a guess rather than a plan. You pay more per month for that flexibility. Whether it is worth it depends on how confident you are about the next three years.
Can a sole trader take short-term van leasing?
A sole trader takes vehicle hire rather than contract hire, because a sole trader is an individual rather than a company, the same vehicles, the same terms of up to 12 months, and we never call that route leasing. Private individuals hiring for personal use are not supplied.
Does a shorter agreement mean a worse vehicle?
No. It is the same range either way, supplied new unless we agree otherwise in advance. The term changes the monthly figure and nothing else about what turns up.
